sorry it's been so long...

For those of you on pins and needles for what I'll have to say next, I apologize for taking so long to make a new post. So, I'm giving you two for the price of one. The next post, Madrone will directly follow this one, or as the eye reads, directly precede. I thought I'd give an explanation for the piece. I'm from So. Oregon where there are plenty of Madrone trees my mother assures me are a Laurel. I never really gave them much notice growing up, but after being away for several years, I was in the area visiting after a recent rain. Coming back from the coast, I watched the trees go by and they fascinated me, so I wrote. That's it. I still see them in my mind as I described them and they are a beautiful, ugly tree.
